Notes
He met with the water user committee to discuss about the plans to build a wall fence around the new borehole recently drilled by Kibo group and to discuss about their borehole ownership and sustainability. It was observed that the village residents had gathered all the bricks(1700) and got the sand which was put about 25 meters from the site. Alex then requested the water user committee to bring all the sand right to the borehole site. Alex then told the water committee that this new borehole will soon be 100% in the hands of the village and the water user committee plays key roles to make sure the borehole is taken good care of. It’s important that the water user committee works together to ensure that the borehole is taken good care and to make sure that all the people use it properly. On a very good note the water user committee held a water meeting with all the water users and discussed ways to manage their borehole. They agreed that the borehole will have to be locked at 7pm and opened in the morning. They even chose two caretakers to take care of the borehole and make sure the people pump it well. When Alex heard this from the water user committee, he saw it at as a very good start as WASH will meet with the village in the near future to come up with the bylaws for their borehole. Alex told the committee that Kibo would help them to contribute cement, labor and iron bars amounting to about 450,000/= to have the wall fence constructed and they were indeed very excited to hear this news. It was also good to witness the village working together as they build two stoves on their own in two homes. Healthy and safe kitchens just started working in this village and a group of about 30 people , men and women was found working together. They told Alex that they had built a total of 7 stoves on their own bringing the whole total number to 11 completed stoves. Many people are joining the group to build these stoves in their homes and the even some people are coming from the neighboring villages to see how these kind stoves are built. Alex encouraged the people to continue working together and told them Kibo group was happy for them. Alex also updated the third household village evaluation survey with the homes that had constructed hand washing stands in their homes and rubbish pit construction.
