- Notes
- Tape and Suzan went to the lower section of the village called Namalowe to practically teach the community members how to build the fuel efficient stove.
When they got there, they went straight to the chairperson’s home where the stove was going to be built and found the members gathered outside the kitchen stamping the dirt which was already mixed up with the grass.
They welcomed Kibo staff to the village and began arranging the materials which were already in place. Tape and Suzan this time encouraged equal participation of both the women and men because they wanted to see that each one tried to master the skills very well.
Together they stamped the dirt until it got ready and then carried it into the kitchen. A few members were requested to enter the kitchen while others remained out waiting for their turn and this was to create enough space among each other as they learnt different skills of building the stove.
Tape and Suzan went ahead and began building the stove step by step while showing the members what to do especially at the beginning which needed to be watched critically by everyone. The members kept on asking different questions during the stove building which was very important because it enabled them to learn easily.
Kibo staff also encouraged them to begin practicing whenever they got free time for this would also help them learn faster. At the end of all, the stove was finally built and Kibo staff thanked everyone for participating in the building activities and they left the village.
