Notes
During this meeting, an architectural plan for the borehole wall fence from Kibo was shared with the people that are to be hired to construct this wall. Alex met with them together with the water user and asked them to do a good job as well as make sure that they follow guidance from Kibo and work together to come up with a standard fence. This is thought to be the first ever borehole fence of this kind in the whole sub county band if not so in the whole of the district. Therefore it’s a new idea that Kibo group has started on the kibo new boreholes and it was for sure a new thing to the builders. The village has already contributed the bricks and the sand needed to construct this kind of a fence. The water user committee was told to make sure that all the water users cooperate and work together with the builders and kibo staff during the days this fence will be constructed since it involves a lot of work. They were sensitized more by Alex about community borehole ownership and sustainability and it’s only possible if all the people in the village work together like they are being seen working together to build stoves for each other. The water user committee also did something very good to make sure that the borehole is being taken good care of by improvising a temporary fence to lock the borehole at an agreed time and properly manage how it’s being pumped by the water users. They are very excited that soon a permanent fence will be constructed on their borehole and promised to have all the people participate giving help to the builders and Kibo group while it’s being constructed and want to have it turn out great for the rest of the villages in Kamuli district copy the idea from them. Many people are admiring the stoves being built in the village and a lot of people are joking the group to learn how to build these kind of stoves and above all this has created unity amongst people in Naibowa village. The village residents continue to thank kibo group for the new ideas being brought to them and Alex also encouraged them to work together and uplift their village standards and teach other neighbors how it’s done.
