Notes
Jeska and Tape went to Ituba Namalowe teach participants how to practically build stoves. They found the participants already gathered at the meeting place, they had already finished mixing and stamping the dirt. The participants had chosen two participants for the day to get stoves and the community had divided themselves into two groups . They told the participants the reason why they opted to build for two participants they feel they can also practically get involved in stove building as kibo staff guides them. Jeska joined one group while Tape joined the other group. The participants also said that they are interested in learning how to build stoves which they can later turn into business thus source of income/ employment. Kibo staff inspected the dirt and it was well mixed, stamped thus good to use to build a stove. One of the participants Mr. Difasi and other two women asked kibo staff to let her lead the participants in building the stove as they guide them because they have not yet learnt how to build stoves. They tried to build stove at a percentage of 70 and kibo staff kept on guiding them until the two stoves were successfully built. Jeska and Tape noticed that the participants have not yet mastered how to measure banana stems and how lay a foundation for stoves. The participants were happy to see two complete stoves out of they active participation. These stoves were for Nabirye and Suzan Naigaga.Kibo staff encouraged them to keep on practicing because practice makes perfect. They also asked other members in the community to participate because the goal of the program is to ensure that they learn how to build stoves in order to build for other members in the group. They also told the participants to focus on learning how to build stoves other than aiming on getting a stove . This is because Incase a member changes a kitchen after building a stove she can build a stove own her own in the new kitchen other than going back to cook on open flames that may be dangerous for their health. Jeska and Tape encouraged the participants to keep on participating because practice makes perfect.
