Notes
Harriet found when the members of group C had already gathered at the home where a demonstration of removing banana stems was to be carried. Harriet asked the participants to get a knife and a shovel that she will use to remove banana stems and to shape. She also told the participants to bring ash, termite dirt and sand she will use to smear a stove after removing banana stems. She also asked the participants to be attentive and ask questions where they did not understand because the program aims at empowering them with a skill of building stoves so that they can build for others members in a group . She also told them that they can also turn it as a business by building stoves in the outside communities and earn money to the group thus development. Harriet practically removed banana stems from the stove , removed the dirt that was stuck inside in order to allow air to easily go through thus effectiveness of the stove. She did this as she explained the whole process to the community. Harriet also mixed the ash, dirt and water and smeared the stove. She told the participants that it important to smear the stove to stop it from cracking thus last longer.she also encouraged the participants to smear their kitchens every after two weeks so that they look neat and last longer. The participants were curious to know how longer they should wait before they start cooking on stoves because they are tired of cooking on open flames that requires a lot of firewood to use, generate a lot of smoke which is harmful to their health. Harriet told them that the stove takes one month to dry well so that it can be used to cook food. This is because if they rush to cook on it before it dries it can easily crack. The participants thanked kibo for empowering them with a skill and promised to continue working together until they master a skill of building stoves.
