Notes
Alex made a follow up visit to Butabira to check on sanitation improvements and standards. On a very good note there is a great improvement in construction of new dish racks that were seen in the village. Some of the homes that were still lagging behind like Gavume’s has constructed new facilities in his home and now working on a new pit latrine to replace the old one. The water user committee was met very busy moving home to home soliciting money from people towards their borehole repair as well as checking on all the sanitation standards moving home to home. This is was a very good sign that the water and sanitation committee is owning the program and are very confident that in two weeks all the money required for their borehole repair is got as well as meeting all the sanitation standards in the village. While in the meeting, the village chairman Mr. Buyinza Charles confessed that his village was working very hard having had a successful village meeting over the weekend discussing on issues of those still lagging behind and the borehole contributions. The women agreed to have all their home sanitation facilities well smeared and Alex while moving in the village met some facilities already smeared and he called on both committees to work together and make sure the village meets all the required standards. The hand washing construction has been highly embraced by all the village residents and all the people are working very hard to have all that is required in their homes. Very few people are left to accomplish the village standards and these homes will be followed up to make sure they meet the standards required
