Suzan and Tape went to the village to guide the participants on building the their own fuel efficient stoves. This was important because at that level they needed to continue practicing how to build the stoves on their own. When they arrived there, they went to a home where the stove was going to be built and found the members already gathered and stamping the dirt. They welcomed Kibo staff who appreciated their work and then together they stamped the dirt until it got ready. A small number of people were requested to enter the kitchen and participate in the stove building because it was too small for everyone to go in there at once. Others remained outside and began cutting and measuring the stems while Kibo guided them. The active members in the kitchen began building the stove step by step while Kibo staff guided them through until it was completed. Tape and Suzan encouraged the members to work together always so that each member in the group gets a stove by the end of the program. They also requested them to build stoves for those who didn’t have kitchens but participated in the program activities. Later after Tape and Suzan walked around the village and visited a few homes which received the stoves with the intention of seeing if they were well maintained together with other facilities. Among the facilities, some kitchens needed to be repaired and smeared because they were broken on one side while others had anthills inside them. Other buildings were well roofed with strong grass which kept the inside cool even if it was very hot from outside. Kibo staff thanked the members for the good work and the meeting came to an end wishing each other a happy stay.

2020-10-19 - Purpose: Guiding the participants in building their own stoves and follow up on the repair of other facilities.

The members from the lower section of the village are smearing their buildings and practicing how to build the stoves on their own.
