Introduction Manuela went to Nabikenge village to educate the community members about how HIV is transmitted and prevented from one another. HIV is very wise disease that people need to know how it can be transmitted and prevented so that to live a healthy life without any problems. Overview When Manuela reached the village, she found few people waiting for her, she greeted them and asked them where are the rest of the participants, one of the participants said that they had gone for burial in nearby village. Manuela was not pleased with the chairman because she called him and he said the village is okay. After that Manuela started her class by asking the participants to remind her about what they discussed previously, three members were able to share their ideas that they learnt about HIV history, the myths and the Fact of HIV and the immune system. Manuela went on and asked the participants that How is HIV virus transmitted? Participants suggested through having sex, sharing sharp instruments eating together with and HIV and among others. Manuela reacted to the participants views that it’s true that HIV is transmitted through having sex but not all the sex can lead to transmission she told them that it’s through having unprotected sex with an infected person, through sharing sharp instruments, accident, through mother to child transmission breastfeeding milk and through blood transfusions. Manuela went on and explained every point so that participants can understand so that they can avoid myths in the community. Manuela went on and told the participants that for HIV virus to be passed from one person to another their must be two things for example the fluids that is to say the blood, breast milk, semen and Virginia fluids and the portal of entry. If the fluids is absent and the portal of entry is present then infection can not take place. For infection to occur there must be a fluids and the portal of entry. Second lessons, after the first lesson, Manuela asked the participants that now you know how HIV virus is transmitted now how can you prevent HIV virus from catching you? Participants suggested that by not having sex, by using condoms , not being close to HIV positive person and among others. After noting down participants views, Manuela went on and explained to the community members how HIV is prevented, she told them it can be prevented through having protected sex, avoiding sharing sharp instruments, always go for an HIV test at least three times in nine month before marriage, HIV positive mothers should breast feed their babies basing on the instruction from the medical personnel, the donated blood must be screened seriously before use and finally people should ware cloves before handling the patient with bleeding wounds. Manuela went on and explained to the participants that eating together and staying near HIV positive person doses not lead to HIV infection as she explained in the first lesson. After that Manuela gave the participants a break to think about the cure for HIV, after the break members came back in class and she asked them about what they think about the assignment, majority of the members still insist that HIV has cured many people from HIV,one of the community member said that he had a friend who was on ARVS but later tested negative, Manuela said it’s possible for an HIV person to test negative simply because the viral lords are low or sleeping but that doesn’t mean that you are HIV free no, you can still pass the virus to another person. Finally, Manuela encouraged the participants to work on their home so that in the next visit they will start from there , she gave them another home work on women and HIV and disease Progression.
