Program
Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Kibo staff in kagulu to conduct the first evaluation after teaching the participants how to build stoves on their own. They reached in the village and met Joseph mukungu the group Chairperson already at the meeting place with a few members. After welcoming them to the village, Kibo staff let the members know about the activity that day and divided themselves into two groups so as to quicken up the whole process since the members were many. The two groups went separate ways and begun conducting the evaluation process home to home while asking different questions concerning the maintenance of the program facilities. All the members visited were found cooking on their fuel efficient stoves and improved on most of their facilities such as smearing their houses, repairing dish racks and constructing the high risen firewood storages in the kitchens. The men were happily helping their wives with some home activities such as constructing the kitchen roofs and other buildings while the elderly children helped in preparing food in the kitchen and smearing the buildings. At the end of the day 30 participants were evaluated and kibo staff promised to continue with the remaining homes in the coming week since it was getting late.
