Notes
Irene went to kagulu village to make a recap of the family planning lesson. Irene was welcomed by the VHT who thanked her for the continued support and knowledge to the community of kagulu. She also thanked the community members for their continued turn up each time they are called upon. She then welcomed Irene to take over the meeting. Irene welcomed all the community members and thanked them for their turn up, she then asked the members to put into practice each lesson that they have covered and to plant more food and vegetables for food security since its a planting season. Irene then thanked the members for asking her to re-do the health lesson on family planning as it’s a sign of change and acceptance of the lessons. So she asked the members why they were asking for a recap, Yusuf said it’s because the COVID period has strained them and it has been a period of learning on the benefits of small homes, scovia said some women have tried on the different methods and they are testifying on them though they have not given a clear explanation to get the community to accept that they have no side effects, Nulu said she had missed out on the lesson so she needed to know more about the different methods. After that interaction with the members ,Irene demonstrated the different methods, emphasized the long term methods as the best methods, demonstrated on the natural methods some members coming up who were already using the methods to show the other members which made the lesson interactive. Irene then asked members to ask questions, Joseph asked whether it’s true that family planning methods like the IUD cause cervical cancer, and whether it’s true that family planning methods lead to lose of sexual desires. Irene told the members that it’s not the IUD that causes cervical cancer but gave some of the predisposing causes of cervical cancer as then asked one of the members to explain the other question. Irene then asked the members to pass on the information to the other members.
