Notes
Tom made a visit to kalalu village to take iron sheets that some residents had contributed for. When he arrived in the village, he found when the committee members and some members who had contributed for the iron sheets were waiting at the chairman’s place. After a short while, the motor cyclists who were carrying the iron sheets arrived and the members were so happy. Tom spoke to the members on how to roof the latrines with the iron sheets. He talked about the roof frame and how iron sheets can me secured on that roof frame and later transferred and secured on the latrine structure. The day was cloudy and for most part it was threatening to rain so Tom decided that the iron sheet distribution be started. Those residents who were present at that moment got their iron sheets and whoever got his iron sheets, was allowed to go. The challenges that prevented the attendance to be big was because some of the members had been summoned to the police station on issues regarding the killing of a village resident on suspicion of stealing a goat while others had gone to a burial in Kalalu B village. For some of the members who were not present, committee members received the iron sheets on their behalf. The vice chairman of the village who was present and witnessed the giving of the iron sheets was very happy and applauded kibo for its trustworthiness. He said he was a little hesitant in believing that kibo would give the iron sheets but he was surprised and encouraged by the commitment and trust that kibo has in keeping its word. Tom also thanked the committee members for working hard and encouraging fellow residents to contribute towards the iron sheets. As the weather continued to threaten to rain, Tom left for jinja amidst appreciations and thanks from the committee members and kalalu residents for receiving the iron sheets.
