Notes
Tom went to kishaike village to select a water user committee but when he arrived in the village, he found that most of the village leaders were attending a family meeting after they lost a relative when bees attacked and killed him. Tom called Sanyu one of the committee members earlier and he told him they committee members were available. But after him and the chairman as well as members of the kishaike village were called by clan leaders to attend a clan meeting at the place of the burial. This affected the attendance in the meeting as most of the committee members in kishaike are relatives of the same family and clan so most of them had to attend and they decided to postpone the meeting to another day. Even though Sanyu and others wanted to stay for the meeting, one of the members (their uncle) suggested that it would be rude if they did not attend the clan meeting. After that discussion, Tom decided to call the chairman of Mpumiro and traveled their for a follow up instead f driving just back to jinja. When he arrived in Mpumiro, he visited some of the homes he visited earlier last week. This time he found that one f the homes has started on the construction of the latrine on the existing pit. Even though one of the other residents has not yet started, Tom and the chairman encouraged him to dig more in the pit and after start on the construction. They also encouraged several homes to finish their dish racks and its the new focus and emphasis. In one home, they encouraged the residents who were two women in that home to construct a kitchen for the home. The existing structure is collapsed without a roof. The chairman encouraged them to demolish the existing structure and construct one that is smaller but better. Also, it was an encouragement after the chairman of Buyoboya village picked a pick axe and a shaved to also start digging a new pit for his latrine. He has also started on a new kitchen. Tom and the chairman of Mpumiro were very encouraged to see that the chairman fwas buyoboya is also participating in the program because he has been a negative influence in his village as he did not have a latrine, kitchen and dish rack.
