Poultry Day 2
Notes
Ida and Diana went to Nawandyo A, to continue teaching about poultry feeds. Ida started by taking the group through a recap of the previous lesson. The group was very active and they remembered everything. Ida praised them and told them to clap for themselves. She then introduced growers mash which for the cocks and layers mash which is food for the hens. She taught them the measurements and what is expected when feeding the chicken. She also told them to note the weight of the chicken after feeding. She asked them questions to see if they had understood the lesson. They answered very well. The group was very excited about the lesson and they promised to put this in practice. Below is the recipe for growers mash: Maize brand 70kgs Cotton seed cake 20kgs Silver fish 07kgs Shells 02 kgs Pre mix 1/2kg Salt. 1/2k This is for layers from week nine to 20 and above. Layers mash recipe Maize brand 69.2 kgs Cotton seed cake 18 kgs Silver fish 5kgs Shells 6.8 kgs Pre mix 300 gms Salt. 300 gms Ida encouraged the community members to give lots of water to the chickens. Diana joined in by introducing domestic violence, which they embraced so much, she talked about causes of domestic violence like coming back home late by both parties, not welling their husbands when they come back home carrying bags, rumor mongering, alcohol, poverty. Some of the causes were from the community. It was a very interesting topic, because of time we couldn’t continue and planned to continue with the topic next week. We therefore left them with the homework to find out how they handle domestic violence in their homes.
