Notes
Harriet made a surprise visit to Kigalama village to follow up on stove usage to find out whether participants cook on their stoves on daily basis or they abandoned them since kibo has taken long time with out visiting their village since 2018. She reached in the village un expectedly because she wanted to find them in their day to day life other than preparing them selves for her. This would help HARRIET to get exactly the way they leave and correct their mistakes where necessary. She decided to start walking home to home and this time she concentrated in the center the meeting area. She inspected over 20 homes and the good was 16 of them were cooking on their stoves on daily basis and this was evidenced by the absence of three stone fire in the kitchen. However four participants had the traditional three stones in the kitchens which would at times tempt them to cook on. Harriet talked to them to find out why they had three stones in their kitchen. They told Harriet that they were stopped by their husbands that they traditionally believe (myth) that if they take out the three stones from the kitchen they husbands will die. HARRIET explained to them that it not true because those other participants who took out the three stones from their kitchen their husbands are still leaving. The women asked Harriet to spare some time and meet their husbands to help them understand that removing the traditional three stones from the kitchen will cause death to their husbands Also some participants had the firewood risen stands well stocked with firewood and those who lacked them were encouraged to put the in place to enable them stock firewood that they will use during time of scarcity. The participants who were visited that day thanked the healthy and Safe kitchen staff for visiting their village though they had taken every long time with out coming to their village . They added that they thought kibo had forgotten about them but for them they still remembered them because of the stoves they helped them build. Kibo staff encouraged them to continue using their stoves and maintaining their home facilities.
