- A pump testing team from Draco drilling company came to Ndhalike to carry out test pumping of the new borehole that was drilled on Saturday 7 November 2020. This team is supposed to ensure that this hole has got very good water recovery above 90% after 3 hours of test pumping. Before test pumping is started, the static water level has to be captured and thereafter it’s closely monitored after an interval of five minutes for 3 hours to see how much water is being lost compared to what is replaced. During this process the pump is set at a known rate to be pumped out per hour. This was set at 1000L/HR pumping rate for 3 hours of non stop blowing out the water from this new hole. This hole is 57M deep and the static water level was 10.59M and the dynamic water level went up to 15.19M at the end of 3 hours of pumping at a rate of 1000 cubic. The water recovery was 96.23% in one hour and this makes it a successful hole to be installed. This process is very important before casting and installation of the borehole. This now means that this borehole qualifies for installation and would be installed at 18M ( 6 Pippes) because of the good water recovery and because it has got potential to pump out 2500L/HR. Some of the community members that got a chance to use this water were very happy and also the water cleared very quickly that they just took it home for home use and consumption. Alex would go back to continue with training of the water user committee, encouraging the community to get materials to construct a borehole wall fence and community borehole ownership.
