Notes
Enock and Martin went to this community to check on the latrine improvement and other facilities like shower areas, more emphasis on hand washing construction since Covid and poor sanitation are a big challenge which has to be addressed more efficiently. There are very many new hand washing stations which are under construction and we are so grateful that people have learnt how r construct the, and use them efficiently. We continued teaching the residents the core values of sanitation and reminded them about the many challenges like many diseases like diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, typhoid that may lead to death or cause a lot of expenses on medication. When most people heard this, they promised to continue encouraging each and everyone to work so hard and improve on their sanitation. We also checked on the homes that didn’t have latrines in the second evaluation to check on how many new latrines in those homes, encourage them to work so hard to improve and complete all the facilities. There are some ladies who have teamed up in this community to also walk around to encourage there fellow ladies and children to embrace sanitation and clean there homes daily use ash in latrines, sweep there compound, smear the facilities, this has been more effective in most homes. There is VHT who is also helping to construct hand washing stations for the fellow residents who have bought cement. This shows cooperation and unity in this village. Although most people are constructing new dish racks some are facing issues of not having trees to cut for construction. This gave us an opportunity to also teach the core values of dish racks. There has been increases in the sanitation levels. All the local leaders are appreciative for the work that kibo wash team is doing in there community to improve the healthy standards of the residents.
