Notes
Alex was in Butabira to follow up on a few specific households in the village that were still working on their sanitation and hygiene improvements in their homes. Some of these homes had lost some facilities to the current heavy rains. From the previous Alex together with the committee encouraged people to replace and maintain their facilities because of the too much rains going on currently. Alex visited Asudeti home and witnessed a new pit latrine he had completed in replacing the one that collapsed due to the heavy rains. Gavume’s home also completed a new pit latrine replacing his old one that collapsed recently, Alex met Gavume’s wife and she thanked Alex for encouraging his husband to construct a new pit latrine for his family. Many of the people have smeared their homes and moving around the village you see many homes that are smeared. Alex together with the village chairman and the sanitation committee have continued to encourage the village residents to maintain the sanitation standards required. While in the meeting with the village residents, Alex thanked them for trusting and partnering with Kibo group to repair their borehole. Also he encouraged the water user committee to continue engaging all people to contribute materials towards the construction of the borehole wall fence as the village has bought the new idea from Kibo group. He continued to encourage the village to keep working together and told them to maintain their village sanitation standards. He also gave them news that a new borehole will be given to their community Kibo group having noticed more need for clean and safe water in Butabira. The village was extremely very happy on hearing this news from Alex and Kibo group and the chairman on behalf of all the community residents thanked Alex for fulfilling whatever kibo group has promised to their village. The community was told that only if the village maintain sanitation and hygiene standards and also Alex told them it would depend if the village has met the required standards from the final evaluation to be conducted soon in the community. However the village look to be set seeing what has been done by the people and Alex will continue to prepare the village for the new borehole to be drilled by kibo group in the village.
