Notes
Introduction Manuela went to Kivule to teach about culture and gender.this lesson was intended to discuss each other’s culture and gender including for the life skills teacher, some times communities still relays on old norms which affects the women and girls a lot. Overview When Manuela reached the village, she found some members in the meeting place, they were attending a conference which started previously but Manuela found when they were about to finish, after that conference, other participants joined them and Manuela taught them together, it was all about discussing their gardens and culture . Manuela started by explaining to the participants about her culture, she said her culture was based mostly in food, dresses cords , marriage and rituals, but all the norms affected aloft the girls and the women for instance, they where denied some types of food, they denied to choose for their loved ones (husbands) they could not make any decisions during any meeting, they were seen as marriage material never allowed to go to school unlike the boys at least were favored. Manuela went on and said but for her family members they decided to deviate from some norms more especially the foods, marriage rituals and education. Manuela told them we should not base on those norms a lot for the sack of development and change of lives. She gave chance to some of the members also to say something about their culture and gender, a man named Abdul said that for him up to now those norms are still there in the busoga culture he went on and said that even today most nasogastric women are denied some foods like chicken, grass hoppers and pock. Women are not suppose to say any award when the husbands is speaking. But when it comes to marriage still they have some rituals which they perform when a girl is going to be married. After their discussion of course Manuela said she can not write everything but she told them to think about their children and their waives , she went on and said today the world is about education if they don’t educate their children then they will die poor which is not good, she told men that families is about making good decisions which is supposed to be made between a man and a woman for better development in homes. Finally, Manuela said that in the next they will learn about the bridge model.
