Notes
Alex was in Butabira to follow up on specific homes that still reflected in the third survey to be missing some facilities in their homes. Generally the latrine coverage has greatly improved in the village with majority of the people having the required pit latrines and those few remaining people either need to roof on them or to construct on open new pits. Alex was with the Police Officer from Namutumba to continue encouraging the village residents to meet the sanitation standards required in their homes. On a very sad note somebody in the village had passed on and the village was preparing for burial later in the afternoon. He managed to meet with the village chairman and two other sanitation committee members after they had visited some homes in the lower section and saw two new pit latrines that had been constructed and they were encouraged to smear and roof them. The village leaders were encouraged to continue engaging all the remaining people to also meet the standards required and also told them to continue with borehole contributions needed before the borehole drilling and to also enable them construct wall fences around the boreholes. Nothing much was done in the village because the village people were all going for a burial and yet two days ago a son to one of the sanitation committee members drowned in nearby river. Alex gave out some hand washing Jerrycans that would be given to the homes that have completed building hand washing stands and Alex will plan to go back and follow up on those remaining areas as well as continue preparing the village before the new well to be drilled in the village.
