Notes
Harriet,Jeska,Tape,Suzan together with the Community development officer and the chief went to Naisamula village to give incentives to the active participants in this village. They reached in the and decided to walk home to home to inspect the home facilities for the Healthy and safe kitchen program. They wanted the government officials to see what kibo has done in the village and also to find out whether the participants were cooking on their stoves on daily basis. It was interesting to see when all the participants were cooking on their stoves on daily basis and this was evidenced by the absence of three stones fire in the kitchens. Most kitchens were well smeared, every home had a well stocked firewood risen however some two kitchens were found leaking thus needed to be improved. Later own they all gathered for the meeting which begun with an open prayer that was led by Kagoya who thanked God for guiding kibo to work in their village. The chairperson of the Healthy and safe kitchen in Naisamula village thanked kibo for empowering them with the knowledge on how to build fuel efficient stoves, build firewood risen stands and stocked them with firewood,as well as encouraged smearing of the home facilities which has greatly improved on the entire hygiene of their homes. Kibo staff asked the participants to share the achievements they have observed from the healthy and safe kitchen program. They said they were able to learn how to build stoves ,they now have 49 stoves in their village. They added that they have more 21 members who have approached them asking the group to build for them stoves too. They said that the stoves have improved their marriage relationship because both men and women work together to cook food for the family. There is reduced case of fire accidents as a result of using fuel efficient stoves. There are reduced cases of eye and chest related diseases resulting from inhaling smoke caused by open flames. The community development officer Hillary thanked kibo for the work they have done in Naisamula village right from sanitation and hygiene, mvule community development program and healthy and safe kitchen program. He asked the participants to maintain those facilities and to always participate in any community development program that may be brought into their village. Then the kibo staff presented to them a surprise gift of soap per member and two community saucepans a s a sign of appreciation to their hard work.they asked them to keep on working together to achieve development. The community thanked kibo for the love they have always shown them which is equivalent to God’s love.
