Notes
Enock and Martin went to this community to continue teaching, sensitizing, encouraging, monitoring, guiding the residents on the core values of sand hygiene. Enock and Martin walked with the committee members to check on the progress of sanitation facilities, they walked in many home where they saw new hand washing stands with jerrycans and water, they also saw some good new latrines constructed with bricks. There has been so good improvements and maintenance of the facilities, we encouraged them to use ash in latrine to chase flies out of their latrines. There are five new latrine pits which are under construction. As we met the families heads, we encouraged them to construct with good firm foundation, construct sustainable structures on them. Many people in this community have greatly embraced them program have constructed good facilities with strong structures, their neighbors to work hard and improve their sanitation. During the visit, we continued empowering residents to cooperate, work as a team for the development of their community. Martin encouraged the community members make soak pit and create proper drainage systems to keep their shower areas clean and neat. Enock encourage those home with latrines to go to the chairman and get pix Axes to dig new latrine pits, emphasized the construction of dish rack, dig rubbish pits and make proper use of them. I was so grateful when I saw most homes having hand washing stands. The people who got iron sheets were so grateful and roofed there latrines, heavy rains don’t affect them like before, this gave us a chance to encourage all the local leaders who have structures that are not roofed to buy iron sheets for those who are able and other can use grass to roof. Some homes lost latrines due to heavy rainfall due to poor maintenance and construction. We encouraged them and taught them to construct sustainable facilities.
