Notes
David and Steven were in Busene village. Their intentions of going there was to follow on the facility construction and the improvements. As David and Steven were in the village, they were joined by three of the committee members who led them into the different homes . Out of the different homes they visited this is what was noted. They were able to see some sanitation improvements for example in Sarah lsiko,s home . She was having anew pit which was recently dug after the triggering . Since the old pit she had before had collapsed. The new pit she had dug was 25 feet deeper. However as David and Steven were in Sarah lsiko,s home ,they were advising her also to encourage the neighbors to work hard and improve by digging deeper latrines pits . They also kept on encouraging Sarah lsiko to also keep on working even on the rest of the other home sanitation facilities. As they continued with their home to home movements,David and Steven were discouraged by some of the other homes which had no any good improvements. On that note the kibo staff were reminding everyone in the village more especially in the homes they reached to . That it was everyone’s responsibility to put into good practice what they had learnt during the triggering day. Because the majority of the members had not yet started working, in order to improve on the facilities in the different homes . So David and Steven along with the committee members were reminding the residents that always the root causer of poverty was the common diseases due to the bad hygiene and sanitation. They were also reminding the residents that they should love to change and improve from the. cultural traditional briefs . For example some few residents who didn’t attend the triggering due to one reason or the other. They told the kibo staff that they grew up not going in the latrines instead they were visiting the bush around their homes. On that note what pleased David and Steven was that the committee members they were moving home to home with ,they challenged the other members. By saying that they had learnt during the triggering that even if you swept your home compound your not sweeping like any blessings. So they were encouraged to start working on their latrine pits as well as maintaining on some of the older sanitation facilities up to the rightful standards . Also the members were advised to stop practicing opening deification . Since visiting the pit latrine was more healthier than going in the bush. According to David and Steven overview they saw that the village will pick up after the continuous village follows.
