Notes
When Tom arrived in the village, he found when the borehole,e committee members were waiting at the meeting place. Some few other m members joined the meeting and later the chairman of the village. By the time the meeting was meant to start at 2pm, only about 6 residents were present and by 3pm, only about 15 members were present. Because the roads are bad due to the recent rains, Tom had planned for the meeting to start earlier than that and therefore, Tom postponed the meeting to the 6th of January 2021 with a few conditions. The village to be well represented in the meeting with about 50% in attendance. Tom also expressed his frustration to the village leaders and committee members as even some of them came late and others never showed up at all. As Tom expressed his frustrations, one village member raised his hand and raised an issue as to why residents where not coming to the meetings. One issue was that there is propaganda going around the village that the kibo borehole was only going to benefit the Mvule group members. The other was that the nonMvule group members were not going to contribute towards the borehole because they are not beneficiaries. Tom was very surprised that these issues were being raised in the village. Tom decided to address a few issues and also guiding those few around about Kibo’s wash program. Tom mentioned that the Wash program is intended to benefit everyone in the village and that is why triggering was not for only the Mvule members but rather for the whole community. Tom also mentioned that during the follow ups, all homes in Kishaike both for Mvule members and none Mvule members were visited. Tom also mentioned that the Wash program has never held a meeting for only the Mvule members but whenever the wash program has held a meeting in the village, all village residents are invited and that shows that the Wash program is for everyone. Tom encouraged the village leaders and Mvule members to meet and make some clarity on the issue. The chairman of the village and the committee members also expressed their frustration and concern but promised to call a village meeting and clear some of the issues. Tom mentioned to the members who were present that Kibo came to unite people and develop them together through the different programs and initiatives. He also mentioned and encouraged them to use the Christmas holiday to continue working on improving their sanitation levels as well as meeting and uniting together to achieve clean water in the village.
