Notes
Harriet and Jeska went to Ndalike to follow up on smearing of the home facilities in preparation for building stoves, follow up grass chopping as well as guide the participants to chose the first members to get demonstration stoves. They reached in the village and found the participants already gathered at the meeting place . Meanwhile as they waiting for kibo staff they were busy chopping grass which was so encouraging. The chairperson of the Healthy and safe kitchen program Ms.Baseke Sarah welcomed kibo staff to the meeting and reported that the group has been very busy chopping grass and they have so far chopped eight bags of grass . Jeska a Kibo staff thanked the community for hard team work that has enabled them achieve their goal of chopping grass. She told them to pause on grass chopping because this quantity of grass will be used to build around 30 stoves . Harriet a Kibo staff also asked them how far they have gone with smearing because during the previous meeting they were tasked to start smearing their home facilities in preparation of stoves. She also reminded them that they will later own resume on chopping more grass as stove building process is going on as well as smearing their home facilities. By show of hand one member called Tatya Ise Rehema said that they have been busy smearing their home facilities and asked kibo staff to check on some homes that they had so far smeared. Kibo staff was led by the One of the members Mr. Mugote to inspect the smeared homes. Kibo staff looked at some of them and were well smeared. They also encouraged other participants who had not yet smeared their facilities to do so before they get stoves. Later own kibo staff together with the community came back to the meeting to identify the first participants to get stove demonstration . She added that participants should chose a member who has been so active in the program. Every one wanted to be the first one to get a demonstration stove and kibo staff told them that kibo staff will work with the leaders to ensure that every one in the group gets a stove by the end of the program. Harriet therefore asked them to be cooperative so that the program can run very first. By concesus the participants agreed on Mugote who is at the same time a group secretary with reasons that he is the secretary of the group, who has been very active in the meeting, he always brought the largest heap of grass to chop, and also has a well smeared stove which makes him qualify for the stove. Kibo staff asked the participants to be at the meeting place on time since that day they are going to do hard work which requires every one to around on time. One member called Ngobi Phillip reminded the group that the policies they also formed reminds them about time management therefore failed to comply a n agreed punishment will be imposed on them.
