Ws Notes
David and Steven went to kigalama village to continue encouraging the two schools and the residents of kigalama who are the beneficiaries of the borehole to repair the borehole. David wanted to first use that chance to advise the many people at the borehole to always use clean jerrycans at both the borehole and in their homes. He went further and encouraged them to take good care and ownership of their borehole. They preached much more about the improvements of the soak pit and the good standard of the borehole fence and also talked about the water clean water chain. David encouraged the residents to always give the first priority of getting water to the two primary schools pupils and the sick people from the hospital next to the borehole. They all agreed to always give the first priority to the primary school pupils because it would give them chance and time to be there when the teachers are teaching. They called the district councilor mr Naloka john manday unfortunately he was unable to attend this meeting but sent the women teacher from kigalama primary school together with the area women councilor mis Zama to represent him. They moved along with the Kibo staff to the two schools the first school they moved to was kigalama primary school where, they met with the headmaster and the deputy of the kigalama primary school about the borehole contribution and agreed to contribute 30000 thousand shillings. They moved to the next neighboring school they also left that other schools when the administration had also agreed to contribute 20000 shillings. The area councilor who was acting as the sub county chief also contributed 10000 shillings towards the borehole account . They then moved around assessing the sanitation of the village in a few homes and they realized that about two homes didn’t have their own latrines instead they were disturbing the headmaster of kigalama primary school by using his school latrine. Kibo staff encouraged the owners of those three homes to dig and construct their own pit latrines in two week,s time without fail once they fail it would lead them to imprisonment. In general the hygiene and sanitation standards is good except the three homes which were using the school latrine. David and Steven left the village when they had collected 147000 shillings for the borehole repair.
