Alex first met with the community development officer (CDO), sub county chief and the health assistant at Bugaya sub county to mobilize them to attend the triggering meeting on Wednesday next week. The chief of the sub county was very happy that kibo group came in at the right time to rescue the situation in Kitukiro village. The village leaders for long have made several visits to the sub county offices requesting fora borehole in their community but the government hadn’t got any resources to help. The sub county health assistant and the CDO promised to attend in person the triggering session in the village. It’s very important during the triggering session that all efforts are put together to educate the village residents the values of proper sanitation and hygiene in their homes. While in the meeting with the village leaders, the village leaders were called upon to mobilize all the people in the village to attend the triggering meeting on Wednesday next week. Alex also met with the drama group that will help in mobilizing the people to attend the triggering meeting next week. The triggering meeting is to take place on Wednesday 17/03/2021 and all the leaders are very excited to learn more about the values of proper sanitation and hygiene practices required. Alex then visited the chairman’s home and looked at the new bathroom that he recently constructed at his home after the baseline survey that was conducted by Alex two weeks ago. Some people have already started to work in their homes to improve on the sanitation and hygiene standards before the triggering day which is a good indicator that the village will respond positively to the WASH program.

2021-03-17 - Purpose: Carry out triggering in open defecation and values of proper sanitation and hygiene.

Program Success

The village leaders and the government leaders at the sub county level are very happy that kibo group has picked Kitukiro- Busumba village to conduct WASH program. The village is in great need for water since the existing well dried up and low yield

Program Critical Needs

There is a very great need for the village to improve on its sanitation and hygiene practices and need for clean water.

Program Ownership

The leaders are very much willing to help their village improve on its sanitation and hygiene standards by encouraging all the village residents to work on their home sanitation facilities meeting the standards required.
