Ws Notes
David and Steven went to nawampiti to check on the facility maintenance and improvement in the lower section of the village . They first moved to waiswas home which was still lacking especially on his pit latrine and other facilities. They found when he had dug his pit about seven feet. They encouraged him to work hard and improve on the rest of the other facilities which were missing in his home. From there they moved to the trading centre ,they wanted to monitor on the sanitation progress in Moses's home since, Moses has been one of the most stubborn members in the community. They found when he had not improved on his old shower area when David saw his shower area not meeting the required hygiene standards, he encouraged him more about the values of having good hygiene facilities in ones home.He even gave him an example of one his sons with a big stomach and told him that, the cause of all that is because of the poor sanitation habits around his home. Like dirty water which logs in his compound causing a lot of diseases. He said that he will be breaking down the bad shower area he had and constructs a new good one. David agreed with him on condition that with in one week he would have constructed a good shower area as well as constructing good trenches around his compound to drain away the dirty running water.
In addition they moved in about 30 homes during their home to home movement .ln all the homes they moved to the sanitation improvement status was good. David and Steven however were encouraging the people in these homes to maintain the required hygiene standards. David kept on encouraging the community members to continue working together with their leaders they elected as their leaders of the water users committee. From there they moved the treasures home kagawa who told David that the members say that they don’t have money these days as their crops are still young. David and kagawa thought of holding another meeting together with the sub county and district leaders to continue sensitizing the community more about ownership of their borehole . They left the village when mr kagawa was going to mobilize the village for the next village meeting which is intended to bring everyone on board as far as the borehole and sanitation improvement are concerned.
