Notes
Tom made a visit to Mpumiro village for a second survey after the surveyors failed the get a site during the first survey to drill in a borehole. When he arrived in the village with the surveyors, he found when some of the village residents were waiting at the meeting place. Before the surveying started, Tom encouraged the village residents it to divert from accomplishing their sanitation and hygiene tasks especially the finishing of remaining facilities in some homes as well as continued contributions towards the borehole. He also addressed the issue of land and he reiterated the fact that whenever the borehole site would be identified, the owner of the land would be willing to give up a portion of their land willingly or the borehole to be drilled and to let the community use the borehole. All the village residents agreed that whenever the site was located, every resident is willing to give up that portion of the land for the benefit of the community. After the discussion, Tom, the surveyors and the entire community moved to start the borehole survey. All together five locations where surveyed but only two showed promise for the borehole but more so one promised good results. This was the second site. The surveyors put a peg at the second site because it had the best results and all the community members were very happy for the location of the site because it had the best accessibility for the entire village. Also reading for the existing boreholes were taken for one of Bunaibani and at Mpumiro primary school. After the fifth site, Tom and the surveyors left the village but Tom encouraged the community members to continue with their sanitation improvements so that when the borehole is drilled, they are clean with all the facilities in their homes
