Jeska and Tape went to Ndalike village to teach participants as they build stoves on their own. They reached in the village and found the participants already waiting at the meeting place. They had collected all the materials needed for building stoves and put them in one place.
The participants were just looking at the materials instead of mixing the dirt and grass and at least stamping it since the community at least knows how to do that.
Kibo staff asked them why this time they were not working yet they expected to find them working. One of the participants( Rehema) said that the group had started mixing the grass and dirt so that they stamp but the owner of the stoves( Mugote saferose) abused stoped them that she did not want them to start on her stove until Kibo reaches there.
The participants told her that Kibo has taught them how mix grass and dirt and how to stamp it. They tried to explain to her that they wanted Kibo to find when they have finish to stamp the dirt in order to save time.
This argument caused a conflict that forced the participants to quit stamping the dirt and they did not want to participate in any work of building for her a stove.
Kibo staff reconciled the two conflicting groups and told them that they should always listen, respect one another for their program to be success full. They also told them that the goal of the program is to empower the group with the skill of building fuel efficient stoves so that they can build for others or use a skill to generate income. They told them that this can be achieved through active participation.
Kibo staff worked with the community and they successfully stamped the dirt , and built a stove for saferose. The group thanked Kibo for reconciling them, promised to continue working as a team up to the end of the program. Saferose also apologized before the group for what she did and promised to always respect one another in the group.
