Notes
I went to this community to take some more jerrycans for the people who had completed constructing there new hand washing stations. When I reached, I met with the local leaders who where waiting for me to walk around and check on the new hand washing stations which are constructed and under construction. We walked in a good number of homes where we saw two new hand washing stations, one Is constructed in the front yard of the house which where they encourage all visitors to first wash there hand before reaching the main house. The second hand washing stand is constructed near the latrine structure after visiting or using the latrine, you should wash your hands with soap before eating any meal. During the visit, I continued teaching, encouraging, monitoring , guiding and emphasizing the core values of washing hands as well as challenging the parents to encourage all their children to wash hands with soap before hold any food. I also encouraged the residents to wash the jerrycans every morning before adding water inside and placing it on the hand washing stand. This will help to keep the hygiene and cleanliness of the jerrycans. This is because of the jerrycans is dirty and has contaminated water, it will accelerate more diseases and bacteria hence making many families sick leading to increase in medical expenses. The residents are so appreciative for the lessons and promised to continue maintaining their hygiene and sanitation.
