Notes
Ida and Diana went to Bulyowa to continue with lesson of Harmony and unity in Marriage(communication skills and conflict resolution). We got them community when they had gathered ready to receive the lessons. We were also happy to meet them. Diana took them through a recap of the previous lesson about Harmony and unity in marriage. Denis, said he remembers practicing patience in marriage , Mbeiza remembers respecting her husband, keeping a humble heart, cook together, have one bed. Diana thanked the whole group for their beautiful answers and for being active in the the group. She encouraged them to embrace the community empowerment lessons because they apply to our day to day life. Ida started with telling them a story of the Good Samaritan, which shows how the Samaritan took care of the man lying dead by the road side, the Samaritan took healing oil and wine from his bag and cleaned the man’s wounds and bound them up with bandages made from the cloth of his shirt, covered him with his robe and gave him a drink of water and he took him to the health center and paid the person who took care of him. Ida told the the group that, like the good Samaritan, husbands and wives need to take good care of themselves. Women should handle their husbands with care, likewise the men to the women. She taught them that the man’s body belongs to the woman, likewise the woman’s body belongs to the man. Both the men and women should practice hygiene in order for marriage to be enjoyable. She added on that men and women should always listen to one another, in order for peace to reign. She encouraged them to maintain love, the magical words “am sorry and thank you”. She also taught that marriage is like a mountain. It is a struggle to reach to the peak because of the rocks, itching grass, snakes, slippery, sometimes lack of enough oxygen, after you have reached the top, there is always cool breeze. Diana added on that there is no perfect marriage. There is no ready made marriage. Marriage is hard work. Every one has to work hard on their marriage. Let us not be careless about our marriages. The whole community was very happy about the lesson Ida and Diana taught them. They thanked them for their time.
