Notes
Alex first visited Butabira village and met with the village leaders and water user committee to discuss about the way forward to construct a borehole wall fence in the village. The village has already contributed money and bought 400 bricks and sand needed to construct the fence and Alex was able to see these materials with his eyes. Butabira village has been very active and managed to construct a wall fence on their own at the old borehole that was repaired in partnership with kibo. Alex sold the idea to the village and the community took it up and contributed materials and money to build the wall fence and even went ahead to paint it. They requested kibo group for support towards this second borehole wall fence but the community was still pushed to get some of the materials to construct this fence. Kibo will help to buy Cement, two pipes, labor and then paint the wall fence to look like the first one constructed at the old borehole. Alex then went to Kamudoke and met with the sanitation committee to follow up on new facilities under construction by the village residents. Because of the too much rains, the program has kicked off very slowly with many of the people busy in the gardens. However Alex managed to meet with the village chairman and two sanitation committee to discuss how the program is being conducted. The sanitation committee have agreed to start home to home visits twice a week, Monday and Thursday while encouraging all people to do what is required in their homes. Alex visited some homes and encouraged people to work up to their standards. The treasurer of the committee had completed digging a new rubbish pit in his home and had started a new dish rack also. Alex then encouraged the sanitation committee to work together and encourage their village residents to work and improve their sanitation and hygiene standards and not to wait only when Kibo group visits their village.
