Diana went to Bulyowa community to teach about discipline in children. She handled ways on how to discipline children. The chairman Mr. Waiswa Godfrey welcomed everyone. He thanked the Kibo group as an organization for sending good staff to them. They appreciate the work Diana and Ida do in Bulyowa. He thanked his community too for attending in big numbers and keeping time. The chairman Mr. Waiswa welcomed Diana to take up the floor. Diana thanked Godfrey the chairman, his secretary mr. Wabwire Charles and the community at large. She encouraged them to put on masks and wash their hands and sanitize as well. She told them COVID is real and everyone needs to be their brother’s keeper. No one can see COVID passing. Diana took them through the recap of the previous lesson which was chores and responsibilities in children according to age group. Fiida said that, training children chores, teaches them to be responsible, it teaches them to be friendly in all aspects of life, Mbeiza said that chores teach children to take care of their families, it helps in the development of children. Diana thanked everyone for their beautiful participation. She introduced the lesson of the day, which was discipline in children. She asked them what they understand by the word discipline, Margret to her discipline is teaching children to greet, welcome visitors. Diana thanked her for the good participation. Diana explained to them, that discipline isn’t about giving kids consequences, instead it ensures children gaining the skills, they need to become responsible. Discipline helps children to manage anxiety, it also teaches children to make good choices. She told the parents to show children right from wrong, with calm words and actions. When disciplining the children, explain the consequences, don’t just punish them let them know the reason why they are being punished. Teach children to treat others as they want to be treated, for example asking for forgiveness, loving their friends. Parents should compliment themselves before their children so that they know it is normal. Parents should also give children attention, notice good behavior and praise the children so that they feel loved. Don’t push them away when they want to talk to you the parents, listen to them and show them that you’re available for them. Diana went on to teach that parents should also learn to eat together with their children, so that they teach them table manners. Thank you and am sorry should be taught to the children. Mr. Mutyaba Peter the LC 2 chairman of Bulyowa community was very happy to hear the beautiful teachings from Diana. It was his first time to attend the lesson. He thanked the entire Kibo group as an organization for taking such beautiful things to his village. He told Diana to send his greetings to all the staff and the country Director. He went on to encourage everyone in community not to just listen, but also to put into practice what has been taught to them. Diana thanked everyone for their attendance and good participation and later dispersed the gathering.
