Notes
Enock and Kenneth made a visit to this community to meet with the local leaders and the sanitation committee members. On arrival we went with the chairman of the village and wamulabi Matiya the VHT of the village. We waited for a few minutes as other local leaders joined us. The chairman opened the meeting, welcomed us back to this community since we had taken 42 days in lockdown while not visiting this village. During the meeting we discussed about the challenges facing some homes which are yet to complete their sanitation improvements, discussed how to continue encouraging the residents during this lockdown to complete all the facilities, reminded the local leader on their role and responsibility during the transformation, development through monitoring, encouraging, emphasize their fellow residents on the core importance of proper sanitation. Told the local leaders to be exemplary, take the lead in driving the progress of sanitation improvements and construct good standard facilities because this will empower them to walk around home to home with confidence while encouraging others to construct sustainable facilities. We also guessed the local leaders to divided them self, allocate them selves homes in their area of residence so that everyone gets to know how his section is progressing. After the meeting we walked around homes in the trading centre, where we noticed some homes didn’t have proper hand washing facilities, this gave us an opportunity to teach them how to construct sustainable hand washing stands and encouraged them on the importance of washing hands with soap. We shall plan to take some jerrycans for those homes which missed the opportunity in the first and second batch of jerrycans delivery. This is will continue promoting the hand washing campaign and following the Standard operating procedures as set by world health organization and government on COVID. There are some good Latrines, shower areas, dish racks, rubbish pits which are in used and constructed well. Most people had tried there best to maintain and construct good standard facilities and this was noticed during walk around checking in the sanitation facilities.
