Notes
Tape went to the village with the intention of meeting with both the local leaders and the program leaders so as to discuss the way forward in resuming program activities after the long period of the country lockdown. Nawampiti is one of the new village that the healthy and safe kitchen program had started operating in before the lockdown and the stove building lessons had began where by five fuel efficient stoves had been built. When Tape arrived there, she found both the chairman l.c. 1 and the program chairperson Mr. waiswa already at the meeting place who happily welcomed her. As they sat down together and exchanged greetings, other leaders kept on coming until they were eight of them. Each person wore a face mask and washed their hands at the entrance before settling down which was so encouraging to see. There was also social distance between them as they sat down, and the chairman l.c. 1 Bakolaki Richard opened the meeting with a short prayer and then invited madam tape to take over. Tape got up and thanked each one for taking good care of them selves especially during the lockdown. She then asked if the participants were ready to resume in the program activities or they needed some more time to prepare. But surprisingly, the members said they were all ready to continue with the lessons and that more new people had joined the group after seeing how the stoves cooked so well from those who already received them. Tape together with the leaders agreed to resume work as long as they followed all the Covid-19 guidelines especially maintaining social distance during work time. They suggested to start working in small groups of people especially while building stoves which usually attracts many people. She also explained how it was very important to be aware of all the symptoms of Covid virus and then stay home or visit the hospital once someone felt unwell. Before building stoves, Tape also requested each one to see that they improved on all their facilities especially the kitchens where the stoves were going to be built. Kibo staff would also first follow up home to home and monitor the program facilities just to make sure they were all on the right place. She then thanked them for coming and wished each other a happy stay.
