Notes
Maria and Irene went to Kalitumba village to meet with the local leaders and the VHT’s on how to conduct the health lessons in this village in this period when the government only allows 20 people to gather. The chairman welcomed all the members present and thanked them for taking care of themselves and their families, also encouraging them to continue following the Government guidlines regarding covid19. The chairman further still introduced the Government official Miss Debora, who was invited by the local council committee to guide the LC 1 commitee and VHTs on home based care of covid 19 patients as the hospitals were only taking in ill patients. Irene was asked to introduce the staff to the community members before Miss Deborah was invited to take the members through some of the guidlines put in place for community members to follow while taking care of the patients. Miss Deborah gave a guidline which involved testing patients in health centres to confirm a positive COVID 19 test, obtaining a separate room(well ventilated ), with access to the washroom,a designated person to provide care and support, the survillence team identifying high risk individuals in homes, protecting other family members from getting infecte, therapeutics, looking out for worning symptoms and the diet during the time of treatment. Miss Deborah further requested the kibo staff to pass on the information to other communities in which they serve so as to create awareness not only on COVID 19 but also to senstize communities on other health related issues. Suggestions on how to conduct health lessons. Irene asked the local leaders and VHTs to give suggestions on how health lessons will be condacted putting in mind that the Government only allows less than 20 people to gather and for avery short period of time. The LC 1 suggested that people will come and sit in groups of 20 or less with their masks on, water and soap will be provided at the venue so everyone who comes will have to wash hands, sanitize and sit with amask on. The VHT’s were happy to see Kibo back in their community and promised to mobilise members for health lessons. Maria advised the VHTs and LC1 to always be vigrante in the community and report covid suspect cases to the nearby health center so that we can avoid the spread because it is possible. After Irene and Maria thanked them for coming and encouraged them to mobilise the community for the next lesson.
