Notes
Sine the uplift of the lockdown, this was Lorna’s first visit to this village to meet with the committee members on a way forward concerning continuity of the Program in the village of Mpumiro. At the meeting place, we found the chairman and a few committee members already waiting for Life Skills staff. We exchanged greetings and we had different conversations of how the lockdown has been and generally how the village has been this entire period. A couple of other committee members joined in on the meeting saying they are doing well and that they registered no case of covid aside from 2 members Tumuhaise who lost her dad in Bushenyi and the chairman’s wife who lost her mom( his mother in law). When all the community members were present, the chairman opened up the meeting , an opening prayer was said and then Lorna was invited. Lorna greeted either committee members present and thanked them for coming to the meeting . She went ahead and asked them if they were ready for the program to go forward and they mentioned that they were ready. She said since we are ready for the meetings to continue, Lorna asked them how should we carry these meetings forward while considering SOPs. The chairman mentioned that the community will be divided into 3 groups. Another person said we can meet as one group but follow SOPs. Musa mentioned that in their village, there are no SOPs so we can continue as before. Lorna thanked them for their ideas. In response to Musa Lorna mentioned that we want to walk in the governments directives therefore we will have 20 people per group. Lorna mentioned can’t she meet 2 groups at a go?. They said no she should meet one group per day. She asked it will create a lag. However they agreed that they will have someone from the previous group carryout a review from the previous topic and teach the other group before the new lesson. About the children, they mentioned that Lorna can meet with the children first earlier and then meet the Adult groups after. The community was happy they said Kibo would have helped them. Lorna however asked they send their children to the meeting and not again use this time to send them for chores. The children will be met at 1200hrs while Adults at 1:30pm. After the successful meeting, a closing prayer was made and Lorna came back to Jinja.
