Notes
Irene went to Ituba Namalowe to teach about menstral, oral, personal hygiene and skin infections. The VHT thanked kibo for the good work they are doing in their community and requested that if there are other programs, they should come and also work in Ituba Namalowe. He then welcomed Irene to take over the meeting. Irene thanked the community for the good for their co-operation and full participation in the kibo programs, maintaining hygiene and sanitation and also keeping themselves safe from COVID-19. On addition to that Irene together with the community discussed the lesson of the day putting emphasis on maintaining good personal and environmental hygiene especially children and the elderly because they are the most affected when it comes to poor hygiene. With oral hygiene Irene also advised the members to brush their teeth at least twice in a day,use a tooth brush, or floss their teeth. Sumaya then asked for a demonstration on flossing which Irene carried out and also encouraged the members to brush their tongue. Irene also encouraged fathers to get involved in the lives of their girls when in the adolescent stage so as to guide them on hygiene, purchase sanitary pads, and advise on ways of keeping themselves safe not leaving it to only mothers and aunties. Magala also suggested that men should improve on their hygiene as majority of skin infections are among the men. At the end of the discussion Irene advised the community members to always visit the health facility for treatment as most of the skin infections can be treated.
