Notes
Keneth and Enock went to ibaako village to check on the sanitation improvements, update on the last evaluation of home which have just completed the latrine construction, meet with the local leaders on the progress of sanitation and how to get all the residents to complete their sanitation facilities. They met with one of the most active leader Kabali Richard who they teamed up to walk around the community and saw some great improvement in many homes case in point, good latrines and shower areas which are constructed with cement and sand, concrete slabs in most homes. The community residents in this village has really invested in their sanitation facilities buy constructing good standard structures which are sustainable. Since most homes are constructing good standard facilities with brick, cement and sand. This has greatly impacted the other homes which hadn’t completed their latrines and showers to learn from their neighbors and construct sustainable facilities. During the visit, we continued guiding, emphasize the leaders to take the lead in monitoring, and make guidelines for new residents to follow as they need to first construct latrine structure and shower area before they complete their main house. Some people who had lost latrines due to heavy rainfall, are digging new latrine pits even when the wash team has not been on ground for since the lockdown. This shows that the community members have understood the importance of having a latrine. The chairman told us about the issue of lack of clean water in one of the section of this village where they have to walk 1.5km to collect water.
