Notes
Irene went to Naisamula village to teach about Gastrointestinal worms and burns. The meeting started with a word from the chairman who thanked all the members for sparing some time to come for the lessons, thanked kibo for the good work done in their community, asked members to always share what they have learned with their neighbors and not to keep good knowledge to themselves. With a few more remarks from the VHT,Irene was then invited to say a word to the members. She thanked the members for committing to the agreed time of meeting for the lessons, and improved participation in the lessons, and also embracing kibo and the health lessons as well. Irene with the community members together discussed about the gastrointestinal worms and their effect to the body, members mentioning that they thought it’s only children under the age of five that can have worms,The negative beliefs the members had that the medication was expensive were all Clarified Irene giving them places were they can get the medication because it can also be given over the counter. Irene then also discussed about burns, how they occur, outcomes and prevention emphasis put on having safe stoves that are easy to build and safe for use, avoiding to use local herbs which can result into complications. Members were advised to always go for proper medication and advising on the best first Aid for burns instead of the options of using urine, vaginal fluids, soil, oil, and many more that they said were being used.
