Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on stove building and the construction of the firewood storages in the kitchens. When she arrived there, she went to the group chairperson’s home but found that he had gone to another village for a meeting with other local leaders. Suzan met some other group members around the borehole who agreed to walk with her around the village while checking on different facilities. However while walking around, Suzan came across one home and found a mother and her young child outside cleaning dishes, the child was burnt on her hand which was trying to heal. Suzan asked the mother what happened to the child and she said that she put her hand inside the hot water which she had left on the fire on her three stones open flames stove. It was a terrible accident that day which costed her a lot while treating her. Migrate the mother of the child joined the healthy and safe kitchens program when she heard about the stove lessons and got interested to work together with the rest of the team so that she also gets a saving stove. Suzan also found some young boys trying to build a fuel efficient stove for their mother who looked sickly. When she asked if they had learnt the skills for building, they said they were just trying out to see if they could because they were not among the group members but they watched from a distance. Suzan helped the boys to cut and measure the banana stems which were going to be used because they seemed not to know how to do it right. Some two active members went and helped the boys in building the stove until it was completed. Suzan also noticed that some members had neatly constructed good strong firewood storages in their kitchens and smeared their houses. She then thanked the members for participating in the activity that day and wished them a happy stay.
