- Maria went to Nawandyo A, to teach about postnatal,post abortion care and immunization. The VHT thanked everyone for coming and he also opened with a word of prayer there after he invited Maria to speak to the community members. Maria thanked all the members for coming and made a review of the last lesson then introduced the two topics to the members as postnatal care, postabortal care and immunization. Maria started by defining the word postnatal care and post abortion care,then together with the members, benefits of postnatal care were shared Rose said”Some mothers deliver from the traditional birth attendants who don’t give postnatal care and so it becomes hard for them to go to hospitals for inquiries or care because they will be asked on details of where they delivered from. Maria advised all members in the meeting to always deliver from the hospital where there is a professional health worker so that they receive proper care during pregnancy,labour, after delivery and during the immunization process. Saida asked the period a mother should take after giving birth before having sex with her husband,because women complain that their men don’t give them enough time to heal. House work and other duties are resumed so early that most women get complications. Men should always be grateful for what their women do as women appreciate them and respect them so Maria advised the men toalways help their women heal both physically,mentally and socially so that their bodies get back in shape and heal from the stress of pregnancy. Furthermore, Maria together with the Members discussed about Immunization, the benefits and barriers of immunization and among the benefits were; boosting the immune system of our bodies, preventing diseases among others. Sharifa shared her story in the meeting about the husband who chased her out of the house because the child was cry after immunization and even warned her never to take back the child for immunization. Maria asked Sharifa to bring her husband to the health education lessons so that he can be informed about the benefits of immunization and more knowledge about general health, she told all members that immunization shots are not harmful to our lives. The chairperson then thanked all members for coming and thanked Kibo for the Love towards Nawandyo A, after Mr. Ndalike closed with a word of prayer.
