- Notes
- Enock made a visit to this community to check in the progress of sanitation improvements through conducting a second evaluation survey. Enock teamed up with the VHT called Mr Akuzasi and the chairman called Mr Philemwana who know everyone’s name in the community so that the evaluation survey is conducted with ease. They managed to cover all the remaining homes which they didn’t complete during the previous visit since it was raining. The community is progressing so well in improving their sanitation and hygiene. They managed to see many new latrines, shower areas, dish racks, rubbish pits, hand washing stands which have greatly been embraced by most of the community residents. During the survey we continued encouraging the residents to emphasize standardization, proper usage and maintenance of the facilities and construction of strong foundation for latrines to make a strong base for the latrine structure, use cement, brick, sand for those who can manage to purchase them, encouraged roofing of latrine structure since heavy rainfall can destroy or breakdown the facilities.
After the survey the chairman and VHTs appreciated the great work and lessons taught to the community and behavioral change is progressing in many homes.
