Notes
In Bupaluka Alex W visited community members listed to receive goats from kibo group in their homes and verify if they meet all the requirements before they can receive goats from Kibo group. A group of 43 community members have been listed to receive goats from kibo group and it’s important that all members are visited in their homes to confirm and look at all the requirements one needs to have before he or she can get that goat. Some of the conditions for one to get a goat are ; one must have planted trees from kibo group, meeting all the sanitation and hygiene facility standards, planted more trees on his/ her own on top of what Kibo Group gave out, must be an active member who attends community meetings and should show a shelter where to keep the goat that you are to receive from kibo group. For the last three visits, Mvule staff has been to Bupaluka visiting all the homes for the community members to encourage them to have all these facilities in their homes. Many of the community members to receive the goats have been so busy working on their sanitation facilities, constructing goats shelters and planting young trees and grass to feed the goats. Alex was able to reach 16 homes checking on all the requirements and on a very good note, the community members have worked or working on new facilities especially new dish racks, bathrooms and other facilities. Pande Peter one of the members completed constructing a new goats shelter and his home had all the Sanitation facilities in place with a new dish rack under construction. Pande Peter together with his family have planted more than 200 trees including fruit trees. Micheal Tizomu planted over 20 young trees this rain season alone and showed Alex his old trees he planted in 2018 given to him by kibo group. All the members listed to receive goats from kibo group were encouraged this season to plant grass to feed their goats and also young trees and have responded very well. Alex also visited Peter’s fishing project that he is doing with his family in his swamp and encouraged him to team up with the community members to see how best they can transform this into another community economic development project working together as a community . This will be something to discuss about in the next meeting with kibo to explore ways to improve on this project. In conclusion, Alex encouraged the community leaders to meet all the members emphasizing the requirements each must meet and mobilize them to attend the next meeting with kibo to discuss about care for goats with the veterinary doctor.
