Notes
Jeska went to Igerera A village to continue teaching participants how to build stoves. Interestingly she found when the participants had just built a stove on their own . They told her that I stead of waiting for Kibo doing nothing they decided to build one stove on their own that Kibo staff will look at before they proceed with stove building. Kibo staff looked at the stove but it was poorly done because the participants interchanged the cooking Pots that create surface for cooking. This would slow the flow of fire from the small cooking pot to the big pot as well as may contain smoke in the kitchen. Kibo staff thanked them for having tried to build a stove on their own, explained their mistake, dismantled the stove and rebuilt a better stove. After they went to the next home where the community had finished stamping the dirt and had pilled it in the kitchen. Kibo staff worked with the community to build stove as they asked the participants to pay attention. It was so interesting to see some women like Nabirye and Sylvia actively participating in stove building, they requested the men to give them an opportunity this time to be on the fore front. Kibo staff guided them and the community together with Kibo’s guidance built a stove for Beatrice. Kibo staff asked all the participants who had got stoves to ensure that they construct firewood storage stands and stock them with firewood that they can use during time of scarcity or during the rainy season. She also encouraged them to smear and maintain their home facilities well smeared to enable them last longer and look neat.
