Notes
The meeting began with prayer that was led by Mary one of the community members. Zaina the chairperson of the community welcomed the community members and thanked them for turning up to the meeting. The discussion was about constitution writing (requirements for registration). The chairperson of the community said that the constitution draft is ready though with some few things missing. There was room for those whose names were not included in to be submitted. This was particularly with those that were added to the list .She encouraged the community members that hadn’t paid in their contributions to do so as soon as possible to complete the registration process. Alex B noted that the community managed to draft the constitution and is almost ready for submission to be considered for registration. He advised the community members that those that have been added to the list to know what is written in that draft. The registration takes place when all the members are at peace with the document. The Lc1 of the village should be in position to recommend the community to the government in writing with a recommendation letter.Though the chairperson had communicated to community that they are to pay fifty thousand Ug shillings,Alex B advised them to find out with the sub county and district officials to confirm the amount to be paid because some of the sub counties have increased the registration prices. He told them that it is the community to raise the money because they are the beneficiaries of the registration. He suggested to them that it is important to all community members to be updated by their leaders how they should come up with enough money to acquire the certificate of registration. The leaders should write application to the relevant offices responsible for the registration. There should be special meeting with attendance observed that prove that they have allowed leaders to do the registration. The government officials will read through the document and be convinced depending on the letters attached to the constitution. He reminded the community to continue observing and responding to all the kibo programs that were there before MCD program in their homes. The community was left with a task to find out the amount required for registration at the sub- county level and community members to sign against their names with the addresses. It’s important that those names are well written in the constitution and all required documents attached to the constitution for registration. The leaders will put all this together for all to review and make corrections where need be before submission to government officials.
