- Diana went to Bulyowa A, to carry out evaluation and introduce the lesson of bride price. Diana got the community ready for the lesson. The chairman mr. Waiswa opened with a word of prayer. He thanked everyone for attending and keeping time. He then welcomed Diana to take them through. Diana thanked everyone for attending. She encouraged the community to keep up the good spirit. Diana took them through the evaluation. Margret said that as parents they have to take care of their children and also be mindful on what they say before the children. Sabasi also added on that early marriages is entirely blamed to the parents, because they have entirely thrown away their responsibilities. They mind only of their work in garden and forget to monitor their children. Dongo said that the lesson has opened his mind. He says that for him he was looking at getting rich through his daughter, by getting bride price from his in-laws. He says this lesson has taught him to work hard and not to marry off his daughter when she is still young. Beatrice also said she learnt to take care of her children and assess the friends her children interact with. Bwire said that he learnt that when children marry when young mostly girls, they can end up getting fistula or die while producing. Diana continued this discussion with the community. Diana later introduced the lesson of bride price. She asked the community what they understand by the word bride price. Nambuya said, it is the gifts that are given to the bride’s parents. Diana thanked her and told the community that this lesson will continue in the next visit. This is because Diana elaborated more on the evaluation of early marriages.
