Notes
Abraham with Kitukiro community members first reviewed the last discussion about community economic project and the chairperson Mss Base said that they got one acre from one of the community member. They finished tilling the land and now they ready to plant because it has started raining. They are continuing with making bricks and now they have made five hundred of them, the target is thirty thousand bricks. Abraham thanked the members for keeping the ball rolling, making bricks and growing peas. He introduced the new lesson of opening a community bank account. The community was asked why they may need bank account and they said to make sure their money is safe. Some members said that it will be good the money they will get from brick making to be kept in the bank instead of keeping it in the house where it can be stolen. Abraham told the meeting that having a community has advantages and disadvantages, Advantages- their money is kept safe because in the house it can be stolen. - one person can not withdraw the money alone but only when all the signatories have signed because if the money is kept in the house that means one person can get it and use it. The only disadvantage is that every month the bank cuts a certain amount for bank charges. The members decided that even if there is some disadvantages but they hope having their money in the bank is a better thing than keeping it in the house. They discussed and said that even a treasurer will not be comfortable to keep money in his or her house. They selected two committee leaders to go to Kamuli town and do a research on banks, their charges so that they will bring the findings to the meeting to discuss which bank they can open a community bank account.
