Notes
Chris and Bamulumbye Alex continued with discussions about community economic activities, the community member are very committed to start growing onions , they decided to make the community be identified as the leading onion suppliers in the region, chris and Alex are guiding the community make informed decisions . While in the community, Chairperson Mrs Norah kasoga thanked members for coming to the meeting and thanked kibo for uniting the community she informed chris and alex that every member is contributing 500 shillings every Wednesday to buy the onion seeds , she says they will be evaluating their contributions every two weeks. She reminded the group memebrs that it is not all about the 500 shillings but rather for development of the community and households as well. She encouraged the community members to have patience and know that investing in development is not a one day activity but a process that involves determination . Chris, he thanked members for convening meetings even when he is not on ground, he observed that some members were not contented with the 500 shillings the committee declared as a contribution but he advised the committee to call a meeting and agree on the amount the community will be contributing every week. Chris said we are all equal in the community therefore the money they plan to contribute should be affordable to everyone. Nakagolo one of the community members and a mother of five said that they were not around when the committee was declaring 500 shillings as a contribution , she says it is too much for some of them while Farouk who double as the publicity secretary said he he heard complaints from some members that 500 shillings was too much that many of them suggest the committee should decide an amount that is affordable to everyone however Farouk suggests to the committee to pass a proposal to allow members engage in multiple activities other than concentrating on one activity meanwhile Talyaka hamid, interjected and said he did not agree with farouk because having members work on different projects will divide the community. He suggested to the chairperson to call for a general meeting to let members agree on how much they want to contribute . Hakim magoola who also doubles as a community VHT faulted the committee memebers for deciding for the entire community without consulting every member.Bakulimya ida a concerned member said the reason some members where not contented with contributing is because the contribution exercise is open ended ,he says it is reflected as if members will contribute forever. In conclusion Jib secretary thanked the members for participating and promised to call for a general meeting on Saturday where members shall agree whether to contribute 500 shillings or they decrease the amount. Chris will continue with the discussions on economic activities next week.
