Notes
Enock and the local leaders visited this village to check on the latrine construction and other facilities. The committee members took them around before they had a meeting. They took them in homes which lost there latrines due to heavy rainfall. The good news was that the residents who lost their latrines due to heavy rains have already started constructing new latrines holes. They are soon finishing and constructing on them. The people have known the benefits and values of having good latrines in their homes. Some people have already completed all their facilities in their homes say dish racks, shower areas, kitchen areas, hand washing facilities, rubbish pits, clean compounds and more. The chairman and vhts have been great examples in their facilities in this village as well as encouraging the fellow residents to construct all the facilities. There has been great improvements and reduction of diseases like diarrhoea, this information was told to us by the vhts since they are the immediate and first aid givers in the community. Generally few people who lost their facilities are the main guys still constructing latrines at the moment. The percentage of kitchen facilities are now about 90% in the whole village. The ladies cook food in time although it’s raining they seat with there children inside as they wait for food to get ready. After walking around and encouraging on the standardization, efficient use of ash in latrines, they held a meeting with all the leaders to inform them about the Mvule program as the next group to work with these people. They were happy to hear the good news and willing to work with Kibo.
